3 killed in car-van collision near Coimbatore

Three people were killed in a road accident in Kollatpatti near Pollachi on Tuesday. The incident happened when a speeding car collided with a freight van. The injured were rescued and sent to the hospital by the passers-by.

Coimbatore: Three people were killed when a speeding car rammed into a freight van in Kollatpatti near Pollachi on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Samopath Kumar 62, his wife Baby Malam, 55, and their driver Veluswamy. They were returning home from hospital with Baby's sister Jhothimani.

Severally injured Jhothimani and freight van driver Anand were rescued and sent to a hospital by the passers-by. Komangalam police have registered a case and a probe is underway.

The mishap hampered the traffic on the Pollachi-Udumalai highway for a while.
