Chennai (Tamil Nadu):BJP leader Kushboo Sundar was detained by the Tamil Nadu police on her way to Chidambaram on Tuesday.

"Arrested...been taken in police van. we will fight till our last breath for the dignity of women. H'ble PM Narendra Modi ji has always spoken about the safety of women and we walk on his path. We will never bow down to the atrocities of few elements out there," Sundar said in a tweet.
The BJP leader further lashed out at the VCK, calling the party "cowards".
"Cowards VCK. Don't rejoice. It's your failure. Arrested bcoz they know we are a force to reckon with. We will not bow down. Darpoks VCK, respecting a woman is alien to you," she said.
She further questioned the ruling AIADMK and Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami for denying her right for peaceful protest.

"When your journey is cut short by force, you know you are on right track. I question AIADMK n CM of TN, why we are denied of our democratic right for a peaceful protest when other parties are given the permission to do the same? Why this partiality?" she tweeted.
"Or is AIADMK government aware that VCK is capable of riots and goondaism and they fear the same?" she added.
A controversy erupted in Tamil Nadu after a video clip went viral in which the VCK top leader had used a word vis-a-vis women and claimed that it featured in Manusmriti.
Alleging that Thirumavalavan's remark belittled women, the BJP and Hindu outfits strongly objected and demanded an apology.
Police filed a case against the VCK chief, which was denounced by the DMK, Congress and other parties that form the Secular Progressive Alliance.
