Beggar beaten to death over verbal spat in Kanyakumari

A beggar was allegedly beaten to death by another beggar near Vedacherry city bus stand in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district. The accused has been arrested by local police on the same day.

Kanyakumari: An elderly man was allegedly beaten to death by another person near main bus stand locality of Vedacherry city in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari district on Tuesday. However, the exact cause behind the murder is yet to be ascertained.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of the same locality and he was begging near the bus stand.

According to sources, an altercation broke out between the deceased and another beggar near the bus stand this morning. The verbal spat turned violent and both started abusing physically each other.

In a fit of rage, the latter started beating the beggar with a wooden stick killing him on the spot. On receiving information, police reached the spot and arrested the accused.

The cops are further interrogating the accused in this connection while a scientific team went to the spot this afternoon for investigation, sources added.
