DMK's Raja defends comments on TN CM

DMK lawmaker Raja has told the Election Commission that his comments on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswamy were taken out of context. The Commission issued a notice to him after Palaniswamy's AIADMK took the matter to the authorities.

The Election Commission had issued a show-cause notice to Raja, a former federal telecom minister, for alleged insults at Palaniswamy during an election rally in the state, which goes to polls on April 6 to choose a new government.

Palaniswamy reacted emotionally to Raja's comments which prompted an outcry from his All India Anna DMK party.

Raja said he was disturbed to see Palaniswamy feeling hurt by his comments and said it was not meant to offend him.

The leader of Raja's DMK party MK Stalin has urged his colleagues to be careful with what they say at election campaigns.
