The incident occurred in the quiet village of Nichalkota, situated within the Pahada Gram Panchayat of Pratapgarh district, under the jurisdiction of the Dhariyavad police station. According to Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra, the traumatic incident unfolded on a fateful Thursday. It was only on Friday evening that the police became aware of the incident when the disturbing video surfaced online.
Reacting promptly to the shocking video, a team comprising the district Superintendent of Police, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the concerned police station, along with other officers, immediately rushed to Nichalkota village to investigate the matter and ensure the safety of the victim.
The victim, a tribal woman, had been married for just a year. Allegations have arisen that she had begun living with another man from the same village, leading to tensions within her marital family. The incident has been widely condemned, with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot expressing his outrage and vowing that the perpetrators would face swift and severe consequences.
Providing more details about the harrowing incident, DGP Umesh Mishra stated that the victim's in-laws were responsible for this heinous crime.
