Jaipur: Rajasthan Congress President and Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Friday said that in the 2018 state Assembly elections, he wanted more women candidates but he could not give them tickets.

Sachin Pilot said this while addressing a Workshop of Women Self- Help Groups organised in Jaipur.

He said that it is good that women got reservations in Panchayati Raj and we should motivate them instead of pulling them back.

"Reservation in politics is just the beginning and women can do much better, all they need is change and support," he said

"This change can't be done by any government law or by publishing books, pamphlets, but it can be done only by changing the thinking of men," he added.

Adding that Women and Child Development Minister Mamta Bhupesh is the only woman minister in the cabinet, Pilot said, "The women should be elected in Parliament not just to fill the assigned quotas but to be the part of the Council of Ministers."

He encouraged women to participate and bring a positive change in society.
