Dungarpur (Rajasthan):Over 400 tribal women are stitching PPE kits for corona warriors in Rajasthan's Dungarpur as part of the contract given to a rainwear company in the district for 100,000 PPE kits by the Union Textile Ministry.
Tribal women of Dungarpur district are preparing PPE kits for medical workers engaged in the fight against Coronavirus infection. These women working in New Zeel Rainwear company are preparing about 3 thousand kits daily.
It is to be noted that the New Zeel Rainwear company traditionally produces rainwear products, but ever since the Covid-19 pandemic, the factory started making these kits. High-technology machines were installed by the company. At the same time, training was given to make these PPE kits among the local people especially to provide employment to tribal women.
The company's priority was to hire single, poor, widow, and needy women, and provide them a regular source of income during the challenging times of Covid-19 when many people were losing jobs due to the economic shutdown.
"We hired 400 women from Dungarpur . They are also being provided pick and drop facility," said Deenbandhu Trivedi, owner of New Zeel Rainwear.
The Textile Ministry recently gave us the order to make 100,000 PPE kits, he said and added, we wanted a strong workforce to meet the order on time.
