Three children among 4 killed in lightning strike in Rajasthan

Four persons, including three children, were killed after being struck by lightning as parts of Rajasthan experienced heavy rain on Sunday night.

Dungarpur (Rajasthan): Four persons including three children and cattle were killed on Sunday after being struck by lightning in three villages in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district, police said.

According to police, the first incident took place in Panchela village when two children had gone to the jungle to graze their goats.

In other incidents, a 13-year-old girl died while playing outside her house at the Baba ki Baar village and a man, identified as Jitendra Pandya of Bhasor village died due to a lightning strike.

The incident took place on Sunday night when Pandey and two others had taken shelter under a tree due to heavy rain with gusty winds.

After the lightning struck, the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Pandey was declared dead.

It is also reported that two goats and one bull of the same village got injured also died in the incident.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem. Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended on the district.
