Religious places in rural areas to open for devotees from July 1 in Rajasthan

The Rajasthan government allowed the religious places in rural areas, where a limited number of devotees visit, of the state to open from July 1. However, religious places in urban areas will continue to remain closed. The government also directed to abolish the mandatory 14-day home quarantine for people coming to Rajasthan from different parts of the country.

Jaipur:Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the Rajasthan government on Sunday allowed religious places in rural areas of the state to open from July 1.

Issuing a statement, the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office said that the religious places in rural areas of the state, where a limited number of devotees visit, are allowed to open from July 1. However, religious places in urban areas will continue to remain closed.

The government also directed to abolish the mandatory 14-day home quarantine for people coming to Rajasthan from different parts of the country.

The Centre had last month allowed reopening of these places of worship from June 8 after imposing the lockdown for more than two months.

Meanwhile, the period of the corona awareness campaign, which was scheduled from June 21 to June 30, has been extended by a week. The awareness campaign will now run in the state till July 7.

It is to be noted that the death toll due to COVID-19 in the state reached 399 on Sunday with eight more fatalities, while the total number of coronavirus cases in the state rose to 17,271 after 327 fresh infections were reported.
