New Delhi: The Supreme Court today ruled that the private unaided schools in Rajasthan can collect 100 percent of school fee from students in six monthly instalments from March 5, 2021. However, it clarified that the schools cannot expel students or withhold their exams on the basis of non-payment of fee.

The bench comprising of Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing a plea against the Rajasthan High Court that the schools can collect only 60-70 percent of tuition fee till the schools are not physically open.

The high court ruling was stayed by the apex court and it directed that instalment arrangement will be independent of the fee to be paid by students for the academic year 2021-22.
