Karauli (Rajasthan): Family members of the priest have finally agreed to perform the last rites of the priest after the state government announced to provide a compensation of Rs 10lakh and a government job.
Earlier on the night of October 8, a priest died after being set on fire allegedly by five people who wanted to encroach on temple land in Karauli's in Bukna village.
The family members of the priest refused to perform the last rites of his body till all their demands are met by the state government.
"We won't perform the last rites of the body until our demands are met. We want Rs 50 lakh compensation and a government job. All accused must be arrested and action should be taken against the Patwari and policemen who are supporting the accused. We want protection," Lalit, a relative of priest Babulal told a news agency.
'Will take body to CM residence'
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena, who was protesting at the village today, warned that protesters would sit on a dharna with the body of the deceased priest in front of the Chief Minister's residence if the victim's family does not get justice.
