Lawmaker Om Birla concerned after infant deaths

After the tragic death of 9 infants within a span of 24 hours at JK Lon Hospital in Rajasthan's Kota, Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla took stock of the situation from the hospital administration and urged the state government to increase the staff at the hospital.

Kota:Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla on Friday expressed concern over the death of 9 infants within a span of 24 hours at JK Lon Hospital in Kota district of Rajasthan and urged the state government to increase the staff at the hospital.

Speaking to media here, Birla said he took stock of the situation from the hospital administration and he would further discuss with authorities regarding the incident.

"The death of children here also hurts me personally, for this I spoke to the state government and also requested the central government to enhance the infrastructure of the hospital.

During the visit to the hospital, the Lok Sabha speaker termed the death of the infants as tragic and painful while urging state and central governments to make adequate medical arrangements.

It is to be noted here that in 2019, nearly 100 infants had died at this hospital in just one month.
