Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday announced special buses to enable people to immerse the ashes of their family members in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh who died during the lockdown.
Around two to three members from a family will be allowed to travel in the buses free of cost.
In a meeting that was held on Friday, Gehlot said that the Uttarakhand government has given consent to operate buses after special efforts made by the Rajasthan government.
He further said that efforts are being made to get the consent of the Uttar Pradesh government.
Dr. Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Industries & Public Enterprises said, "four or five buses will be operated daily from Rajasthan to Haridwar and other holy sites where ashes are immersed.
"These buses will initially be operated from the divisional headquarters of the state and then from the district headquarters as required," he added.
Medical Minister Dr. Raghu Sharma, Chief Secretary DB Gupta, Ati. Chief Secretary Home Rajiv Swaroop, Atty. Chief Secretary Finance Niranjan Arya, Additional Chief Secretary Medical Rohit Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Public Works Vinoo Gupta, Principal Government Secretary Information Technology Abhay Kumar, Government Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Siddharth Mahajan and Information and Public Relations Commissioner Mahendra Soni attended the meeting.
