Vigilance has been increased on the state borders to check and stop political parties sending in cash for possible political horse-trading when Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government is in turmoil after former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot's rebellion against it.

However, police authorities denied that the checking was increased in view of political developments and said, "it was being done to check increasing cases of Covid-19 affected people in the state".

"It has been done to check and curb the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the state," a police official, manning the state border at the national highway number 8, said.

He said the police have clear instructions to check people coming to the state and make sure that no one enters without due permission.

Meanwhile, the whole exercise has affected the traffic flow as jams could be seen at many points.
