Rajasthan floods: LS Speaker's father expresses displeasure over relief works

Krishna Birla, father of incumbent Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla, reached the Collectorate during the ongoing meeting and expressed his displeasure over the relief works. Besides, the Collector gave assurance regarding his concerns and promised speeding rescue and relief operation.

Kota: Millions of cusecs of water is being released from the Kota Barrage in the Chambal River as Rajasthan reels under flood-like situation. During an official meeting held at Collectorate, Lok Sabha Speaker OM Birla's father expressed his concerns regarding the relief operations.

According to reports, krishna Birla reached the Collectorate during the ongoing meeting and expressed his displeasure to the state Collector. Besides, the Collector gave assurance regarding his concerns and promised speeding rescue and relief operation.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Krishna Birla claimed that only meetings are being held and relief operations are lagging behind.

However, he also said that Collector Muktanand Agarwal has assured him that proper rescue will be done at all places.

Collector Muktanand Agarwal has also said to provide immediate relief to regions mentioned by Birla. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had on Saturday predicted "heavy to very heavy" widespread rainfall in east Rajasthan on Sunday.

Several trains were cancelled or diverted due to water-logging at railway tracks in Rajasthan's Jhalawar district, as heavy rains continue to pound the state.
