Rajasthan cop accuses doctor of laxity after kid dies of rabies

Shaitanram Meena, a police constable from Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu has blamed the government district hospital of laxity in the treatment of his six-year-old son who died after being bitten by a dog.

Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan): A police constable from Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district has blamed the district government of laxity in treating his six-year-old son who died after being bitten by a dog.

According to reports, Shaitanram Meena is currently stationed at the Jhunjhunu police line.

Meena released a video of his dying son and accused the doctor at the government hospital of laxity.

The constable said that on December 21, 2020, his six-year-old son Prince was bitten by a stray dog while playing outside their quarter. The child received injuries on his cheek and hand.

Meena claimed that when he took his son to the government hospital, the doctor just administered him first aid whereas the matter was serious.

He alleged that the doctor said giving a rabies vaccine to the kid would not be possible, and asked them to return the next day.

The constable said that he was not completely aware of rabies at the time. When he returned to the hospital 12-13 hours later, the doctor did give the kid an injection, but it was too late by then as the child later died.

The video released by Meena has now gone viral on social media. In the video, Meena can be heard sobbing during the final moments of his dying child.

Meena said that the family is devastated by the loss of their only son.
