Rajasthan Cong MLA Gajendra Shaktawat passes away, was part of Pilot camp

Rajasthan Congress MLA Gajendra Singh Shaktawat passed away at a Delhi hospital today morning due to liver infection. Shaktawat was considered a vital member of the Sachin Pilot camp and was among the 18 MLAs who had 'rebelled' and camped at Manesar.

Jaipur (Rajasthan): Congress MLA from Rajasthan's Vallabhnagar, Gajendra Singh Shaktawat, passed away on Tuesday after battling liver infection.

Shaktawat had earlier contracted COVID-19, but had eventually recovered. However, he was undergoing treatment for his lung infection in the national capital.

He passed away today morning at The Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS) Hospital in Delhi.

The Vallabhnagar MLA, who had earlier served as the Parliamentary Secretary in the government of Rajasthan, was the son of former state home minister Gulab Singh Shaktawat.

Shaktawat was considered a vital member of the Sachin Pilot camp and was among the 18 rebel Congress MLAs who had camped in Haryana's Manesar.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra, and Sachin Pilot expressed grief at Shaktawat's demise.

Since September 2020, four MLAs from Rajasthan have passed away, Shaktawat being the latest. As a result, the strength of the Assembly has now come down to 196 from 200.
