Jaipur:Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Sunday demanded a judicial probe into the January 5 violence at the Delhi's prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) that had left around 35 people injured.

Questioning the role of Delhi Police in the violence at the university campus, Gehlot said, "What happened inside the university is a subject of concern and condemnation. This kind of incident has never been seen before in the university's history. Masked goons entered the educational institution under the supervision of police and were also escorted by them after the attack."

The recent act of violence at JNU is an example of the underlying threat to country's democracy, he said, adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should answer on the violence and should know where the country is heading.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch investigating the case of violence in JNU had identified and released photographs of nine suspects, including that of Aishe Ghosh.

Meanwhile, Gehlot came out in support of the movie 'Chhapak' and said, "I am happy that the movie has been made tax-free for the people of Rajasthan as well. People have welcomed this decision. The movie will educate people. People should enjoy the movie."
