Jaipur: In view of the prevailing Covid-19 situation, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday announced financial assistance of Rs 5,000 each to around 2000 artists in the state, after ETV Bharat prominently reported their demand for financial aid.
In a tweet, in Hindi, the Chief Minister said, "It has been decided to provide one-time assistance of Rs 5,000 to the artists in the state who are facing financial problems due to the unforeseen circumstances arising out of the COVID-19 epidemic. With this decision, about 2,000 artists who are financially weak and the needy will get relief."
As per reports, the aid will be provided through the Artists Welfare Fund. In the state budget this year, the Chief Minister had made a provision of Rs 15 crore for the welfare and support of the needy artists.
