Rajasthan killings: BJP mounts attack on Gehlot government

Referring to recent killings of a priest and that of a Dalit youth, who were burnt alive in two different incidents in the Congress-ruled state, several BJP leaders, including central minister Arjun Meghwal, have criticized the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan.

Jaipur: Slamming the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan over the recent killings, the BJP has said the chief minister has no moral right to continue in office and should resign.

Referring to recent killings of a priest and that of a Dalit youth, who were burnt alive in two different incidents in the Congress-ruled state, several BJP leaders, including central minister Arjun Meghwal, have criticized the state government.

Meghwal, addressing media persons, said incidents like these tell the story of deteriorated law and order situation in the state. He said the criminals have no fear of police and people are being killed and looted every other day.

He said Dalits are also being targeted and the government is doing nothing to ensure safety and security of the people. Gehlot does not have any moral right to continue as the chief minister.

Former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, Rajasthan BJP chief Satish Poonia and many other leaders also criticized the government on the same issues, asking the chief minister to resign.

A Dalit youth, who worked as a salesman at a liquor vend in Alwar, was allegedly burnt alive in after he demanded his salary dues from liquor contractors on Saturday. Kamal Kishore's charred body was later found in a deep freezer of the liquor shop that was found gutted, police said.

A few weeks ago, a temple priest was burnt alive over a land dispute in the state. Also, there have been incidents of rapes and other crimes, and all this has provided an opportunity to the opposition to attack the government.
