Bharatpur: Bajri Mafia, people engaged in illegal mining and transport of river sand in Rajasthan, ran away on Monday after an encounter with the police here, sources said.
Policeman fires in air to disperse Bajri Mafia After getting a tip-off that a number of tractor-trolleys would pass through the city, the police barricaded the roads and when the mafia saw the police they tried attacking the officials, who ordered the blockade.
"I had to fire in the air to disperse the criminals," Hukum Singh, SHO, Roopvas police station said, adding that the police would not allow them to indulge in the illegal activity.
Over the past few months, the police have arrested many people and seized their tractor-trolleys for carrying out illegal activity.
