Miffed over ticket distribution, Rajasthan BJP workers held leaders hostage

A group of BJP workers in Rajasthan's Nagaur district tied BJP's Bherunda Mandal president and vice-president with ropes and held them hostage for several hours on Monday. Miffed over, ticket distribution issue, party workers raised slogans against BJP and some of them also burnt the party flag.

Nagaur (Rajasthan): A BJP district office in Rajasthan's Nagaur has witnessed high drama on Monday as a group of workers, angry over ticket being given to "outsider candidates" for upcoming Panchayat Samiti election.

Miffed over this decision, party workers tied BJP's Bherunda Mandal president and vice-president with ropes and held them hostage for several hours. The incident took place at Bherunda Mandal area in the district.

"BJP workers had been demanding that the party should field a candidate from the supporters of former Cooperative Minister Ajay Singh Kilak, and were saying that on the behest of Rajsamand MP Dia Kumari, the tickets were not given to the Killak supporters. They were angry over the top BJP leadership's this decision. I and vice president had gone to the party office pacify them, but they held us, hostage," said, Rajesh Vaishnav, BJP president, Nagaur.

"They had promised us that they will give us tickets for the upcoming Panchayat elections. The main workers have been ignored by the party," an agitated worker said.

The protesters tied Vaishnav, and the vice president to a tree and raised slogans against BJP. While protesting, some of them also burnt the BJP flag.

The two leaders were released hours after they got assurance that their demand would be put before the party's senior leadership.
