Man held for trying to cheat BJP MLA in Rajasthan

Police arrested man who tried to cheat BJP MLA Chandrabhan Singh Aakya by posing as a Superintendent of Police in Rajasthan. Identified as Suresh alias Ram called up the MLA asking for financial help but was arrested as Aakya cross checked with the person in question.

Chittorgarh: A person, who tried to cheat BJP MLA Chandrabhan Singh Aakya by posing himself as a police officer on phone, has been arrested, police said.

Aakya received a phone call on May 30 from an unknown person, who introduced himself as Superintendent of Police (SP) Deepak Bhargav, and asked for rupees ten lakh, saying his relative was admitted in a hospital and he needs money to pay the bill. He also promised to return the funds soon.
The MLA started arranging the money right after the phone call but he then thought of calling the police official concerned to tell him that he was sending the funds to the hospital. As he called up the SP, the police official told him that he never asked for any financial help.

Following which the MLA got a case registered against the caller.

The police traced the man, who was later identified as Suresh alias Ram, through the phone number that he used to call up the MLA, asking for money.


Police said the accused has a history of cheating people and has 47 cases registered against him on various counts.
