Kota:A multi-disciplinary team of experts constituted by the health ministry has reached the JK Lon hospital in Kota to conduct a death audit of the recent infants' deaths in the hospital.
Kota: Central medical team reaches JK Lon hospital The members of this committee will conduct an audit of the deaths in the hospital. The team will prepare a report about the lack of facilities and medical care in the hospital. This report will be sent to the Union Health Ministry.
It is to be noted that after two more infants died on Friday at the hospital, the death toll has now increased to 106. As many as 100 infants died at the government-run hospital in December 2019 and the six additional deaths took place in January 2020.
The high-level team includes Kuldeep Singh (head of Pediatrics and Dean Academies, AIIMS Jodhpur), Deepak Saxena (senior regional director, Rajasthan, ministry of health and family welfare), Arun Singh (Professor of Neonatology, AIIMS Jodhpur), Himanshu Bhushan (adviser, National Health Systems Resource Centre). The team of experts will carry out a joint gap analysis along with the state government in terms of clinical protocols, service delivery, manpower availability and equipment for maternal, newborn and paediatric care services at Kota Medical College.
State Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot will also reach JK Lone Hospital in Kota. He will also hold a meeting with the hospital management and district administration in case of the death of children.
