JK Lone hospital introduces LISA technique for infants

The premature infants facing the respiratory problem will be treated with LISA technique in J K Lone hospital of Rajasthan. The LISA technique will help to reduce the side-effects of using ventilators.

Jaipur: The JK Lone hospital has introduced LISA (Less invasive surfactant administration) technique to develop lungs in premature infants.

The babies suffering from respiratory problem after premature birth will be treated in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit with LISA technique.

JK Lone Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Ashok Gupta said:” The premature baby admitted in the newborn unit suffer from respiratory problems. The patient facing trouble in breathing is supported with C-pap machine and ventilators.”

However, there are side effects of tubes and ventilators as lungs of pre-mature kids are delicate.

The LISA technique will help to reduce such side-effects.

Explaining about the LISA technique, Co-in charge of neonatal intensive care unit, Dr. Vishnu Pansari said: “Under the guidance of Dr. Gupta, the newborn is kept on C-pap machine with the help of surfactant medicine instead of the ventilator.”

The main objective of this technique is to prevent maximum damage to the newborn’s lung.

The new born unit is currently using this technique on babies weighing 1500 grams.
