The people involved in the racket had formed a WhatsApp group and where the ID and passwords of the online site of betting cricket would be sent and talks of betting transactions used to be carried out in codewords.

Initial inquiries from the accused have revealed that the mastermind of this entire network is a person named Rakesh who is sitting in Dubai and creating online ID passwords through the Diamond Exchange website in many states of the country. The person who wins the bet is sent information from the WhatsApp group from Dubai. The amount won is then transferred through hawala to the accused and then the amount would be provided to the winner.

WhatsApp groups created based on Temple names

The four caught by the police had formed WhatsApp groups in the name of temples to avoid speculation by the police. More than 30 WhatsApp groups have been found in 9 mobile phones recovered from the accused, which have been made in the name of various temples. It was through these WhatsApp groups the people were given fake IDs and passwords for online betting.

Not only this but the amount of money won by a person used to be sent from Dubai through a code word which was then laundered to different cities in different states through hawala. At present, interrogation of the accused caught in the case is going on and the names of some other people connected to the online betting network are also likely to be revealed.
