Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that the Rajasthani language be included in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution and to provide it a constitutional recognition.
Gehlot, in his letter, has mentioned that during his previous tenure as CM, Rajasthan Legislative Assembly had unanimously passed a resolution in 2003 for insertion of Rajasthani in the 8th Schedule and sent it to the Central government. Under this resolution, the Rajasthan government had been demanding to give constitutional status to Rajasthani language a number of times.
Gehlot has also written that Rajasthani language is one of the richest languages in the country, yet not recognised officially.
