Gehlot should look into his state affairs: BJP's Meghwal on Hathras case

Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said the Rajasthan Chief Minister to look into his 'state affairs' before pointing fingers at others. The statement comes after CM Ashok Gehlot slammed UP government over Hathras incident.

Rajsamand (Rajasthan):Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal on Monday slammed Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot led Rajasthan government for commenting over the prevailing law and order of Uttar Pradesh and said the Minister should look into his 'state affairs' before pointing fingers at others.

The statement comes a day after CM Gehlot attacked the BJP for a hurried late nigh cremation of the 19-year-old Hathras woman, who had died after allegedly being gang-raped and brutalised, terming it a 'heartbreaking' movement for the family members.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, he said, "The Chief Minister should look into his state affairs first. He should have taken Baran rape case on priority before pointing fingers on the Hathras incident."

Earlier, Gehlot during a press conference on Saturday said that the recent Rajasthan's Baran rape case has no links with the Hathras incident as the victim had chosen to accompany the minor boy with herself and had given the same statement to the police.

"Despite recommending CBI probe into the matter, Gehlot pointed fingers over the rape victim. This is wrong. We would raise voice against women atrocities in the state," added the Minister.

He asserted that Rajasthan ranked first in the country in rape cases, as per the National Crime Records Bureau and second in terms of crime.

"This is quite unfortunate for our state, which has now become a place for Dalit women's exploitation too. Looking at these numbers, we have requested the Governor to intervene in the matter," Meghwal said.

"At a time when the number of women victims is increasing in the state, the Ashok Gehlot government is not lending an ear to their cries. Therefore, the state BJP will start a Twitter campaign too with a hashtag crime capital Rajasthan," the BJP leader added.

"Criminals have remained unchecked. It is not a political allegation but NCRB statistics that claim the same," he said.
