Rajasthan: Farmers' livelihood suffers as their goats cross border due to 'improper fencing'

Farmers' livelihood has taken a hit as hundreds of goats went missing from villages situated along with the border areas in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district. Farmers said that goats crossed the border and went to Pakistan due to 'improper fencing'.

Jaisalmer: In a sharp blow to farmers' livelihood, hundreds of goats went missing from villages situated along with the border areas in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer district.

As per reports, goats had gone to graze and didn't return back. Farmers said that they crossed the border and went to Pakistan due to 'improper fencing'.

Balveer Singh, a farmer, speaking to ETV Bharat

Speaking to ETV Bharat, one of the locals said that due to lack of proper fencing at some places, goats often cross the border and go to Pakistan.

"Farmers in villages depend heavily on goats for their livelihood. We have lost hundreds of goats due to improper fencing at the border areas. We demand from the administrations and governments that efforts should be made to bring back our goats so that we don't have to suffer more," said a local, Balveer Singh.

The farmers have also given an application to the state government to look into their problem and do the needful to bring back their goats.
