Two die and two injured in a truck collision in Rajasthan

Traffic on the busy Rajasthan- Punjab national highway was severely hit for over 5 hours after a dumper truck coming from Punjab collided head-on with a rice-laden truck near Sri Ganganagar area of Rajasthan on Monday. The deadly mishap claimed two lives including the driver of the truck.

Sri Ganganagar (Rajasthan):At least two people died and two injured after two trucks coming from opposite side collided head-on at the wee hours of Monday near here in Rajasthan.

According to the locals, a truck loaded with rice coming towards Mudra Port, Gujrat from Punjab's Taran Taran Sahib hit another truck coming from Bikaner which was heading towards Suratgarh district of Rajasthan.

The impact of the accident was so severe both trucks got stuck after the accident and caught fire, said an eyewitness.

The deceased has been identified as the driver of the truck Manoj (20), a resident of Rajasthan's Nokha village while the other identified as Harish (40), a resident of Punjab who suffered major injuries due to the collision.

Meanwhile, the injured was taken to a local hospital but later shifted to the district hospital.

The traffic of the area was severely hit for over 5 hours due to vehicles piling up in traffic congestion.

"The traffic jam worsened as many heavy-vehicle drivers tried to overtake each other to get out of the congestion,” said Rajiyasar Sub-Inspector. He further added that the situation improved by the afternoon.
