Ajmer (Rajasthan): The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a broker with a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh, allegedly in the name of the Vice Chancellor of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University in Rajasthan's Ajmer.

According to ACB DSP Mahipal Singh Choudhary, the accused Ranjit Singh was taking a bribe in the name of Vice Chancellor RP Singh, when he was caught red-handed.

An ACB team led by SP Samir Kumar Singh reached the VC's residence, and started investigation to determine his involvement in the matter.

The development comes just a day after ACB sleuths had arrested a suspended Village Development Officer (VDO) and a sarpanch of Mandana panchayat samiti in Rajasthan's Kota district for allegedly taking a bribe.

The two were arrested from their residents after the VDO allegedly took a bribe of Rs 20,000 at his house in RK Puram of the city on Sunday, officials said.
