Jalore (Rajasthan): A four-year-old boy accidentally fell into a 90-foot open borewell at Lachhdi village in the Jalore district of Rajasthan on Thursday.
After about 20-hours of struggle, the fire and rescue services personnel and police rescued the child safely in the wee hours of Friday.
4-year-old rescued from borewell pit after 20-hour struggle in Rajasthan On Thursday afternoon, the child, while playing, fell into the kaccha borewell. His parents started to search for him when they found him missing. Later, they heard his screams from the borewell.
Following this, they sought the help of the villagers, who in turn alerted fire and rescue services personnel.
A team reached the village with the excavators and began rescue operations. When the SDRF and fire service personnel failed to rescue the child, a villager, identified as Madharam helped the team. He tied a rope in a 90-metre-long pipe, put that into the well and asked the child to hold the rope.
Finally, the child was pulled out of the borewell after over a 20-hour struggle.
During the rescue operation, the teams were constantly communicating with the boy so that he does not fall asleep. Oxygen was pumped into the borewell using a pipe so that the child does not suffocate, and some food has also been dropped inside for him.
The borewell was dug just two days back in a farm owned by the child's father.
