BSF soldier shoots himself with service rifle in Rajasthan

Barmer: A soldier with the Border Security Force shot himself while on duty in a border area in Rajasthan, the police said.

Kumar served with the 13th battalion and he was a resident of Uttarakhand state.

The body was handed over to the BSF after the post-mortem in the Barmer district hospital. BSF and police officials filed a First Information Report at the scene of death.

The remains were handed over to Kumar's son Mohan Singh who said he was clueless about the reason for the suicide.

"After receiving information that a jawan had committed suicide at the border while on duty, we rushed to the spot with BSF, recovered the cartridge and started the investigation", said police officer Amar Singh Rathore.
