Jaipur:Hitting back at PM Modi's remark in two cases of sexual assaults within a fortnight in Alwar, Dalit leader from Gujarat Jignesh Mevani said, "BJP must not open mouth on atrocities against Dalits."

Dalit leader Jignesh Mevani in an interview with ETV Bharat said, "BJP is not fit to open mouth on atrocities against Dalits."

In the BJP-ruled state of Gujarat, five Dalit grooms were not allowed to sit on a horse in 4 days. But CM Vijay Rupani is silent, no action was taken against those who tried to create hurdle in the marriages of Dalit men.

Mevani directly targeted PM Modi by saying, "PM should speak on the rising number of incidents against Dalits like Una incident happened in Gujarat. No further steps have been taken yet. Now where is Modi, all this is said only at the time of elections."

Talking to ETV Bharat Jignesh Mevani said, "Around 12 rapes have been reported in various parts of Rajasthan which shows the poor state of law and order in the state. The Dalits are constantly being tortured. If the government is really concerned, then strict action should be taken against the guilty.

Mevani said that the SP ignored the ThanaGaji case. Under the Atrocity Act, a lawsuit should be filed in the SC-ST Act and some action must be taken against him." The government was given seven days time for action and deadline was over on Tuesday, he added.

Jignesh Mevani, along with other Dalit organizations met the state DGP over gang-rape incidents and demanded separate Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the cases of atrocities against Dalits registered across the state in the last two months.
