Ambulance driver administers Covid vaccines

Authorities in Rajasthan sacked a driver serving with the 108 Ambulance service after he administered Covid vaccines to people in a village in Udaipur district.

Udaipur:A driver with the 108 Ambulance Service, who was not trained in medical work, administered Covid vaccines to people in Rajasthan before he was removed, reports said. The incident was reported by residents of a village in Udaipur district.

Mahendra Lohar was seen administering Covid vaccines to the village people at Saira Primary Health Centre. The Primary Health Center medical in-charge, Ram Singh rushed to the spot and removed the driver from service.

It is being reported that for the last few days, the ambulance driver was administering Covid vaccines to the villagers along with the medical staff at the PHC. When the villagers came to know, they complained to the top officials of the medical department. Authorities then rushed to the spot and stopped the ambulance driver from vaccinating the locals. They also barred him from entering the PHC.

People are now asking why and who allowed him to vaccinate people in this PHC. Block Chief Medical Officer, Dr OP Rampuria sacked the driver from the PHC and initiated a formal investigation. Giving information to ETV Bharat, the PHC in-charge Ram Singh said that the BCMO can come to the concerned PHC to investigate the matter.
