Sardarshahar (Churu): A 95-year-old woman, Seeru Devi, here reached the subdivision office and requested Sub-Divisional Magistrate that she should be allowed to die. She alleged that her son and grandson beat her up following which she is extremely distressed and does not want to live anymore.
According to Seeru Devi her family lives in a very pathetic condition. Staying in a rented house, she worked hard all her life and took care of her children. She wrote the tragic tale of her life in a memorandum.
In the memorandum, the victim, Seeru Devi, has written that she was married to Mohanlal Soni, a resident of Sardarshahar. After marriage, she had three children, whose names are Om Prakash, Rameshwar Lal and Jagdish Soni. The condition of her family was extremely miserable at the time of her marriage. The couple somehow managed to scrape through the situation, worked as labourers and took care of their children and got them married.
The 95-year-old woman said that she occupied vacant space in ward number 19 and lived in a hut. As time passed, the three boys abandoned the house along with their individual families and she continued to live there alone.
She said that her grandson Shyam Sundar and his daughter-in-law Pooja helped her in taking care of her daily chores. For the past five years, she is unable to do anything owing to her old age.
When she informed her sons about her condition and asked someone to stay with her, the three sons refused to take her responsibility. Last year when her health further deteriorated she asked the court to intervene in the matter. This angered her son Om Prakash who forced her out of the house.
