13 Rajasthani men stuck in Saudi Arabia release video seeking help from Indian govt

Around 13 people from Rajasthan, who have been stuck in Saudi Arabia ever since the coronavirus-induced lockdown was imposed, released a video on social media seeking help from the Indian government. Acting upon the video, the Indian Embassy has assured all possible help to the migrant workers.

Churu (Rajasthan): As many as 13 men from Rajasthan, who have been stuck in Saudi Arabia ever since the coronavirus-induced lockdown was imposed, released a video message on social media stating that they haven't been paid for their labour over the past two months by their employer and sought help from the Indian government.

Acting upon the video, the Pravasi Legal Aid Cell contacted the state as well as central government flagging the concerns of these migrants who have been kicked out of their accommodation as well.

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has assured all possible help to the migrants.

In the video, the men say that they had arrived at the gulf country with the help of an agent in India who had assured them a "good job" at a "reputed company". But upon arriving in Saudi Arabia, the men were handed over to a local contractor.

The contractor allegedly accommodated them at a camp and did not pay them for their labour for two months.
