Verka crematorium authorities disallow cremation of Bhai Nirmal Singh

The cremation of former 'Hazoori Raagi' of the Golden temple Bhai Nirmal Singh was allegedly denied by the Verka crematorium authorities in Punjab's Amritsar district. Singh had tested positive of coronavirus and died on Thursday morning.

Amritsar:The Verka crematorium authorities in Punjab's Amritsar allegedly disallowed the cremation of former 'Hazoori Raagi' of the Golden temple Bhai Nirmal Singh.

The villagers locked down the crematorium and advised to choose another place for cremation.

As per sources, the SDM Vikas Heera and Superintendent of Police (SP) Harpal Singh Randhawa decided to cremate Khalsa’s mortal remains in crematorium situated on Verka-Fatehgarh Shukar Chakk road which is two Kilometers away from Verka village’s crematorium.

It is to be noted that Singh had recently returned from abroad and tested positive for coronavirus. He breathed his last around 4:30 am on Thursday.

Meanwhile, police have sealed the area around Singh’s residence to check the spread of the infection.
