Punjab police recover remdesivir vials from Bhakra canal

As citizens are grappling with the second wave of coronavirus in the country, the Ropar police in Punjab recovered a large number of vials of Remdavisir injections from the Bhakra Canal near Salempur village in Punjab. The drug, prescribed for serious cases of COVID-19, is short in supply and several cases of black marketing have been reported in the recent past.

Ropar (Punjab): Amid the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak in India, an acute shortage of the life-saving Remdesivir injection has been reported from various parts of the country.

As per reports, the Ropar police in Punjab recovered a large number of vials of Remdavisir injections from the Bhakra Canal near Salempur village in Punjab.

Upon receiving the information, a team headed by Sukhjinder Singh, DSP Chamkaur Sahib, was immediately sent to the spot at village Salempur along with the drugs inspector and senior medical officer (SMO).

"On preliminary investigation, these vials are apparently fake as per the district Drug Control Officer," said DSP Singh.

He further said that the process to register an FIR was ongoing and teams were still searching for more vials in the canal.
