New Delhi: Parliamentarians from Punjab met Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and requested to grant funds for relief and medical purposes amid COVID-19 outbreak in the state.
As per Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu around 90,000 NRI Punjabis have returned to India last one month and many of them have symptoms of novel coronavirus.
"The number of COVID-19 patients are going to increase alarmingly. To contain the disease Punjab is preparing to combat and has made stringent plans up to grass root level. We require more extra manpower, specialist, doctors, nurses, Anesthetists etc," the letter read.
According to reports, the delegation of parliamentarians requested Dr Harsh Vardhan to allocate funds for health services to meet the urgent demands.
