Hyderabad: Malwinder Singh Mali on Friday resigned as an advisor to Punjab party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. In a statement posted on his Facebook page, Mali said, "I humbly submit that I withdraw my consent given for tendering suggestions to Navjot Singh Sidhu". He had recently courted controversy with a Facebook post on Kashmir.

"Punjab, Punjabi community cooperation, and anti-Sikh forces, that do not tolerate, the emerging Punjab model, issue-based and solution-based politics of transparency and accountability, that has dawned in the backdrop of the long-drawn peaceful Kisan Andolan, have a nefarious design to derail the dialogue that has started taking shape and to push me into the struggle with tied hands, which is not acceptable to me and rejecting the same I humbly submit that I withdraw my consent given for tendering suggestions to Navjot Singh Sidhu," Mali said in his statement.

"The established politics of Punjab is by and largely devoid of intellect, that is not willing to accept any major effective change for the welfare of Punjab and the country," his statement read. Mali said he shall 'continue his relentless struggle against the politics laden with plundering narrow personal interests, the same shall be done in collaboration with like-minded forces'.

In his statement, Mali said that a hateful campaign has been launched against his ideas by political leaders and Captain Amarinder Singh, Vijay Inder Singla, Manish Tiwari, Sukhbir Badal, Bikram Majithia, BJP secretary Subhash Sharma Raghav Chadda, and Jarnail Singh will be responsible if the same results in physical harm to him.

Sidhu on August 11 had appointed Mali, a former government teacher, and political analyst, along with Pyare Lal Garg as his advisors. In a recent social media post, Mali had reportedly said if Kashmir was a part of India, then what was the need to have Articles 370 and 35A.
