Punjab: Pakistani drone shot down near Attari border, suspected drugs seized

Indian jawans shot down a Pakistani drone near the Attari border in Amritsar at 9 pm yesterday night and recovered suspected a drug packet. After the firing, the drone was found the fields of Pul-Maur on the Indian side of the border.

Amritsar: Cross-border drug smuggling by Pakistani smugglers continues on the Indian border. However, these attempts are being thwarted by the BSF (Border Security Force) personnel deployed along the borders. Once again, BSF personnel shot down a drone near Pul Mauran BOP (border observation post) near the Attari border in Amritsar, Punjab.

The drone incident took place around 9 pm yesterday night. At that time, the BSF jawans of Battalion 22 were on patrol. At about 9 pm, the movement and sound of the drone were heard from the Pakistan side. As soon as the drone was seen, it was fired upon. BSF Punjab Frontier shared information on the official tweet and wrote that the fourth drone has been shot down by BSF in two days.

A packet of suspected narcotics has been recovered from the fallen drone. Sources said that upon hearing the sound of the drone, the BSF jawans took position and started firing on it once the drone became visible. After a while, the sound of the drone stopped. The BSF personnel heard the sound of the drone when it was entering the Indian border. Later, there was no sound of the drone returning after the BSP opened fire.

After this, a search operation was conducted in the area. After about an hour of effort, the drone was recovered from the fields of Pul-Maur. A large yellow packet was attached to the drone. It is not opened yet due to security reasons. The officials suspected that it was the handiwork of the Pakistan-based drug smugglers once again.
