"Have to work together with Sidhu", Sonia Gandhi's clear message to Capt

This was the first meeting since Sidhu was appointed the Punjab Congress President. However, he continued his revolt against Capt and his Government. This matter was also discussed in today's meeting where Capt expressed his resentment over Sidhu's remarks.

New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday, has made it clear to the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh that he has to work unitedly with the state unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. This responsibility to build coordination among the two has been given to the Punjab Congress incharge Harish Rawat.

Captain Amrinder Singh reached Delhi this morning to meet Sonia Gandhi. This meeting was held at 5:30 pm at the residence of the Congress President, where Harish Rawat was also present. During the meeting, Captain Amrinder Singh briefed Sonia Gandhi over the steps taken by his Government towards the 18-point agenda given to him by the party high command to work upon ahead of Assembly Elections in 2022.

While speaking to the media, Punjab Congress incharge Harish Rawat said, "In our last meeting with captain Amrinder Singh, some points were given to him to work upon. Today he has briefed Congress President about the progress and difficulties. Punjab is going to elections in the upcoming months. Naturally, we need to monitor issues that our state is facing and decide how to tackle them. Congress President is satisfied with the steps taken by him towards those issues."

This was the first meeting since Sidhu was appointed the Punjab Congress President. However, he continued his revolt against Capt and his Government. This matter was also discussed in today's meeting where Capt expressed his resentment over Sidhu's remarks.

When asked about the matter, Rawat replied, "He has also said some things about the organisation to which Congress President has asserted that both the state government as well as the organisation has to work together. Both of them need to work together remaining within their limits."

Congress President has also given Harish Rawat the responsibility to make coordination between Capt and Sidhu. Rawat informed that if needed, Sidhu will also be summoned to Delhi.

On Cabinet reshuffle, Harish Rawat said, "No decision is being taken over the Cabinet reshuffle because of some working difficulties and there is also an imbalance as there is no Valmiki (Backward Class) currently in the Cabinet."

Meanwhile, the media advisor of Capt Amrinder Singh Raveen Thukral tweeted, "Met Congress President Sonia Gandhi ji in Delhi this evening to discuss various state related issues. Spent an extremely satisfying one hour with her."

Interestingly, Capt also held a discussion with poll strategist Prashant Kishor ahead of his meet with Sonia Gandhi to discuss the points that should be raised before the Congress president. It must be noted that Kishor has recently resigned from the post of Principal Advisor of Captain Amrinder Singh.
