Sirhind (Punjab):After being shifted from Kotwali Sahib to Gurudwara Shri Fatehgarh Sahib, the two youngest Sahibzadas, Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh, aged 9, and Sahibzada Baba Fateh Singh, aged 7 faced immurement when they refused to convert to Islam.
The two younger Sahibzadas, along with their grandmother Mata Gujari, were imprisoned in the Thanda Burj, the Cold Tower, during extreme winter in the month of December (Poh). They were often summoned by Wazir Khan, the Governor or the Fauzdar of Sirhind, and made to appear in his court.
After facing gruesome torture, the Sahibzadas stood their ground to embrace martyrdom which was too much for the proud Wazir Khan to bear.
He declared the two young ones as 'enemies of the state' and ruled that both be immured.
The Sahibzadas spent their last night with their brave and courageous grandmother, Mata Gujari steadfast in their resolve to sacrifice their lives without yielding to injustice and cruelty.
