Gurdaspur:The Border Security Forces (BSF) on Friday intercepted a drone infiltrating from Pakistan in Punjab's Gurdaspur sector, officials said.
"A drone entering from the Pakistan side has been intercepted (by fire) by alert BSF troops in Gurdaspur Sector. On being fired, the drone returned back to Pakistan. Search operation underway," BSF Punjab Frontier tweeted. Drug smuggling activities are continuing unabated through drones by Pakistan inside the Indian border for quite some time. Currently, a search operation is on in the area in search of the drone. Sources said further details are awaited.
Earlier, a Pakistan drone entered the village of Dhanoy Kalan on the Attari border of Amritsar late on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, two packets of heroin were recovered by the soldiers of Battalion 22 while patrolling. About 2 kg of heroin and 170 grams of opium were contained in the packet. The recovered consignment is said to be worth around Rs 14 crore. Officials said that when the movement of the drone was felt, the jawans opened fire and the drone crashed.
