Amritsar (Punjab): Panic gripped Amritsar's posh area Ranjit Avenue on Friday when a hand grenade-like bomb was found in the area. The sweeper, who was cleaning the area, found the object in a pile of dry leaves outside a house and later informed the police.
The police reached the spot and the bomb-disposal squad was also informed, the police said. According to DCP, Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar, the object, was later diffused in a vacant area.
Hand grenade-like object in garbage pile leads to panic in Amritsar Earlier also, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found inside a tiffin box in Daleke village of Amritsar.

According to the report presented by NSG, the IED had three initiation mechanisms and a Printer Circuit Board (PCB) for remote activation also. "It contained 2-3 kilograms of RDX and was assembled meticulously by a qualified team. The bomb could explode even on slight mishandling of the tiffin," said the report.
The tiffin box that housed the IED was a very attractive one. It was bound to draw children's attention and meant to harm innocent people.
