Odisha Padma Shri awardee pride of her village

Odisha's Purnamasi Jani, who is popularly known as Tadisaru Bai, is a Padma Shri awardee. The woman who has never been to school is definitely surprising people with her knowledge and wisdom in her Charipada village.

Phulbani:Tadisaru Bai comes from a nondescript remote tribal village in Kandhamal district of Odisha. Purnamasi Jani, who is popularly known as Tadisaru Bai, is an ardent devotee of Lord Jagannath. She keeps her audience charmed and spellbound with her spiritual and devotional songs.

Bai herself composes all the devotional songs and sings them in front of the villagers. She has been honoured with Padma Shri award for her extraordinary talent.

Bai hails from Charipada village in the Khajuripada block of the district.

This talented woman who unfortunately is not educated is definitely surprising people with her knowledge and wisdom.

Being a totally devoted person who is deeply attached to Lord Sri Jagannath of Puri, she recites her spiritual prayers non-stop. She has sung more than a lakh of spiritual and devotional songs.

The entire village went into a celebration mode after the Central government announced her selection for Padma Shri award.

Villagers are always keen to listen to her songs which enlighten the surrounding into a spiritual mood.
