Odisha: Dead lizard found in cooked food in quarantine centre

By the time the dead lizard was spotted, no inmates had consumed their breakfast. The lifeless reptile was found on the plate of one of the inmate and immediately he informed the matter to the centre in-charge.

Kendraapada (Odisha): A dead lizard was found in the breakfast which was served to inmates at a school quarantine centre under Garadpur block in Odisha's Kendrapada district on Thursday.

Sources said that by the time the dead lizard was spotted, no inmates had consumed their breakfast. The lifeless reptile was found on the plate of one of the inmate and immediately he informed the matter to the centre in-charge.

On being informed about the incident, Garadpur BDO, Rashmi Ranjan Mallick reached the spot and investigated the matter, sources said.

The BDO informed," During the inspection, it was found that a dead lizard was detected in the cooked food before it was served to the inmates. No one has consumed the food and all inmates are fine."

It is pertinent to be mentioned here that over 30 persons have been put in quarantine at this particular centre. They have been there for more than one week. In the past also some of the inmates have complained about the neglect being meted out to them, sources added.
