Jharsuguda (Odisha):A 27-year-old jawan hailing from Odisha, working at the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Saturday.
The deceased jawan has been identified as Kamla Kant Rohidas, a resident of Brajarajnagar in Odisha's Jharsuguda.
According to CRPF officials, Rohidas, belonging to CRPF's 223rd battalion, shot himself with an Insas rifle at his unit's headquarter in Dornapal police station area on Saturday wee hour.
On hearing the gunshot, Rohidas'colleagues rushed to his barrack and found him lying in a pool of blood, following which he was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared brought dead, officials said.
Meanwhile, police have sent the body of the jawan to a nearby hospital for post mortem and also initiated a probe into the matter.
However, the cause behind the suicide is yet to be ascertained, officials said Rohidas's WhatsApp messages suggest that he was disturbed over a love affair.
