Medical negligence: 'Dead' youth wakes up right before autopsy

Sujit was admitted to Bhadrak Hospital in an unconscious state. He was declared dead by the doctors and was sent for autopsy. However, he started breathing after a few hours.

Bhadrak (Odisha): A 25-year-old youth certified as "dead" started breathing while he was being wheeled into the mortuary for autopsy at a hospital here on Sunday.

According to reports, Sujit, a resident of Khatuapatna village, was admitted to Bhadrak Hospital in an unconscious state on Saturday night. After examining him, the on-duty doctor, Karunakar Rout, declared him dead and sent him for postmortem examination, scheduled for Sunday morning.

However, he started breathing after a few hours. Seeing signs of breathing, the attendants rushed the patient back to the casualty ward.

Tension erupted at the hospital following the incident. The patient's family members are demanding immediate arrest and suspension of the doctor.
